IRFP Presents: Blue Box

Blue Box

If anyone has the Goya Version 2 tape (and 37 of you do), you may have noticed an instrument referred to as 555B (it's actually a greek B, for Beta). Like most people I know, the first oscillators I built used the NE555 and I got the schematics from the Forrest Mims "Engineers Mini-Notebooks" you used to be able to get at Radio Shack. So this instrument had two 555 oscillators which sort-of modulated each other. It was a mess of wires on the bench, until I packed it into this blue steel case, and gave it to my then band-mate Jason. They used it in a few of there songs until it got screwed up. I didn't know about road-worthiness back then.
